What type of conditions does the chiropractor treat?
Chiropractic care at James Healthcare and Associates focuses on musculoskeletal and neuromuscular conditions, particularly those involving the spine and joints. This includes back and neck pain, headaches related to spinal tension, joint pain, muscle tightness, postural issues, and movement-related discomfort.
How long is each appointment, how often do I need to come, and how much does it cost?
Appointments and treatment frequency are individualized based on your condition and care plan. Specific appointment lengths, visit frequency, and pricing are discussed after the initial evaluation.
Does the chiropractor accept my insurance?
Yes. We are preferred providers for Blue Cross Blue Shield and Medicare, and we accept all other insurance plans.
Because every insurance plan is different, coverage and benefits can vary depending on your specific policy. Our team will review your insurance and explain any applicable benefits before care begins. Most importantly, the doctor will first determine whether we can help you and create an appropriate treatment plan—then we’ll discuss how your insurance may apply.
If you have questions about your insurance or coverage, we’re happy to help—just bring your insurance information to your visit or give our office a call.
What is the chiropractor’s cancellation or missed appointment policy?
We kindly ask that patients provide at least 24 hours’ notice if they need to cancel or reschedule an appointment. Appointments canceled with less than 24 hours’ notice or missed without notice may be subject to a fee, though the clinic reserves the right to use discretion on a case-by-case basis.
What is the chiropractor’s approach to treatment?
Care is patient-centered and goal-oriented, focusing on identifying and addressing the root cause of pain or dysfunction. Treatment plans are customized and adjusted based on patient progress.
Does the clinic use any specific techniques?
Yes. The clinic specializes in the Gonstead chiropractic technique, a precise, evidence-based approach that focuses on thorough analysis and targeted adjustments to address the root cause of spinal dysfunction.
Does the clinic provide any additional services?
The clinic also offers hormone replacement therapy, weight loss programs, neuropathy programs.
How do I schedule my first appointment?
You can schedule your first appointment by calling (319) 524-3339 or clicking here.
What should I expect during my initial examination?
Your initial exam is thorough and focused on identifying the root cause of your problem. It includes a comprehensive Gonstead analysis, digital posture and structural evaluation, and full-spine digital X-rays when clinically necessary. We also assess range of motion and overall function. After the exam, the doctor will review your findings with you, explain whether we can help, and outline a personalized care plan. No treatment begins until everything is clearly explained.
How long will my first appointment take?
The first appointment is longer than follow-up visits to allow for a comprehensive evaluation.
What should I wear to my first appointment?
Wear comfortable clothing that allows easy movement. If you have long hair, please bring a hair tie.
Will X-rays be taken during my first appointment?
In most cases, yes. We take digital X-rays on approximately 99% of our patients because it’s safer and more effective to see and know what’s happening in your spine rather than guess. X-rays allow the doctor to evaluate spinal alignment, disc spaces, and structural integrity so care can be precise and appropriate for your condition.
That said, not every case requires X-rays. There are situations where X-rays cannot or should not be taken, and each patient is evaluated individually. The doctor will determine what’s clinically appropriate for you.
Our priority is always to make informed decisions that lead to the best possible outcome.
Will the chiropractor adjust me during my first appointment?
In most cases, no. The doctor needs time to thoroughly evaluate your exam findings and carefully study any X-rays that were taken. We believe it’s important to fully understand your condition before making an adjustment—precision matters, and we don’t want to rush or make assumptions.
That said, there are situations where a same-day adjustment may be appropriate. Each case is evaluated individually, and the doctor will determine what is safest and most effective for you.
Our priority is to deliver specific, well-planned care, not rushed treatment.
